Professional responsibilities for AICPA members and members’ firms
At its December 2025 interim meeting, the AICPA Professional Ethics Executive Committee approved the release of an exposure draft with proposed revisions to the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct regarding alternative practice structures. Comments were due April 30. The AICPA hosted a webcast on March 2 to explain the exposure draft’s key proposed changes. The video recording of the webcast is available; you can download the slides as a PDF below.
PEEC met on August 4-5 to discuss AICPA member and stakeholder comments on the exposure draft. PEEC decided to continue discussions on a proposed revised exposure draft, expected to be released later in 2026. For a recording of the meeting and the slide deck (PDF), visit this webpage.
Effects on CPA firms’ peer reviews
A new peer review standard, Peer Review Standards Update (PRSU) No. 3, Modernizing Peer Review Administration Requirements, includes temporary provisions regarding peer reviews of APSs (see pages 8–9 of the standard). A recorded webcast for peer reviewers highlights these changes and discusses what peer reviewers look for when reviewing firms in an APS. The webcast’s slide deck is also available as a PDF download.
